The electro-rheology cell allows the characterisation of the rheology of samples whilst in an electric field. Typical applications are electro-rheological fluids used for creating a physical resistance, liquid crystals and other electrically sensitive samples.
A DC voltage of up to c.10KV may be applied to the upper measuring system via an electrolyte solution and the lower plate is earthed. Any rheological test can then be carried out within a specific electric field. To create very strong electric fields, the gap may be narrowed as required. NB A power source is not included.
The Electro rheology cell includes the electrodes, insulator, nylon water jacket surround, cable (3m as standard) and connectors. The cell can be supplied with a choice of geometries to suit the application. Geometries available for the ER cell are the C14 and C25 Concentric Cylinder Cups and the PU 40 and PU20 plates.
Benefits:
Allows characterisation of any rheological property within a user defined electric field.
Fits all rotational instruments.
Allows measurements to be made using DIN standard and parallel plate measuring systems.
