Established sensor technology.

Malvern Instruments’ laser diffraction technology at the heart of the Insitec system is now the standard in most particle size analysis processing industries and has been pioneered and developed by Malvern for more than 20 years. Its robustness has allowed implementation in the Insitec sensor in such a way that it copes easily with the rigors and demands of an industrial process environment. The sensor's changeable lenses allow the tuning of the instrument resolution to the needs of the process. The instrument is watertight and dustproof, and certified to industrial protection rating IP66. It is CE badged and meets industrial grade electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements for safe, reliable operation.

A rugged industrial solution.
Malvern Insitec systems are designed from the outset for industrial use. Their rugged construction and robust technology reflect the exacting demands placed on analytical instrumentation that is in continuous use in a process environment. Capable of taking scattering patterns every second and delivering the particle size distribution in real-time, an Insitec can make more than a million measurements every year. The instrument, the process interface, analysis software, automation and data reporting can all be customized to the unique needs of individual clients.

Applicable to:
Solid particles or liquid droplets suspended in gas or liquid stream, 0.1-2500µm. Concentrated streams may require dilution using standard Malvern accessories.

Principle of measurement:
Ensemble laser diffraction allowing measurement of thousands to millions of particles every ¼ second. A standard measurement accepted in applications as diverse as pharmaceutical, cement and toner industries. High concentration measurements possible due to patented multiple scattering analysis.

Measurement:
Standard volumetric particle size distribution calculated using rigorous Mie theory using model independent analysis.

    Features:
  • Modular, highly robust analyzer integrated into process line
  • Hygienic fittings to ensure ease of cleaning between production campaigns of entire sample path
  • Range of continuous sampling accessories available for wet and dry analysis
  • Highly flexible automation and plant control integration solutions available via Malvern Link
  • Intrinsic safety and pharmaceutical (GAMP4) options
  • At-line and on-line mobile unit options
